Culture Comes in Many Forms—And We All Belong Here

As more people discover the beauty and rhythm of life in our rural community, we’re excited to welcome new neighbours who bring fresh ideas, experiences, and traditions. Whether you’ve lived here for generations or just arrived, you’re part of what makes this place special.

Sometimes, though, we hear different views about what “counts” as culture. For some, culture means concerts, galleries, or theatre. For others, it’s found in early mornings in the woods, quiet afternoons by the lake, or cheering on the local hockey team.

Here in Potton, hunting, fishing, and sports are part of our cultural fabric. They’re not just hobbies—they’re how many of us connect with family, mark the seasons, and pass down knowledge. They teach patience, respect for nature, and the value of community. They’re full of stories, rituals, and meaning.

That doesn’t mean everyone has to participate. Culture isn’t about doing the same thing—it’s about recognizing the richness in each other’s ways of life. Whether you prefer a paintbrush or a fishing rod, a theatre seat or a tree stand, there’s room for all of it here.

We believe that when we listen with curiosity and speak with kindness, we build a stronger, more welcoming community—one where everyone feels seen, valued, and at home.

So let’s keep sharing our stories, learning from one another, and celebrating the many ways culture shows up in our lives. Because in the end, it’s not about where we came from—it’s about what we build together.
